At the end of first round following is the point table.

Sri Lankan national team players were able to get some good batting practice towards the end of this first round. Thilakarathna Dilshan scored two centuries against Lankans CC and Baduraliya cricket club 133 N/O and 100 respectively. Kumar Sagakkara playing for NCC could score a century. Other centurians were Mahela Jayawardana (168) and Chamara Kapugedara. Upul Tharanga, the captain of NCC team was also among runs.

Cricket fans and selectors of Sri Lanka cricket team considered this tournamnet as very important one. Specially selectors were in obvious trouble after the cancellation of West Indies tournament due to heavy rain. It is said that they are going to use this tournament to consider players for the world cup tournamnet. So this tournament was specially important ironically not for the new players but veteran players like Sanath Jayasuriya and Chaminda vass.

Sanath Jayasuriya could only score one half centuary. But Chaminda vass as always was able to make an impact on the opposition batting orders.
