How can a foreigner or Sri Lankan expats with foreign Driving license drive in Sri lanka

Given below is the procedure to obtain a temporary driving license in Sri Lanka, issued to those planning to stay in Sri Lanka for less than two months under Visit Visa.

For those not familiar with Sri Lankan road rules, you drive on the left side of the road, like for instance in England and Australia.

Along with the driving license, a revenue license too must be carried in the vehicle. It is obligatory for all vehicle owners to renew the license annually. If you are hiring or renting a vehicle, ensure that the revenue license is valid, as the traffic police regularly check this document.

  1. How can a foreigner drive in Sri Lanka?

    The word license is wrongly written. It should be licence;

    Because license is the verb and licence is the noun. In the

    sentence above you need the noun and not the verb.

    Thank you,
