India rejected Hambanthota Harbor building saying it is not viable – President

CNN-IBN’s Suhasini Haidar got a chance to interview Sri lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksha on a range of issues recently. One of the main topics was the Sri Lanka’s international relationship with India and China.

In this discussion Sri Lanka president was also questioned on human rights violations during the war, trade relations with India, Fisherman issues and tourism. Answering reporters argument that Sri Lanka favoring China in trades and China’s growing influence on Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka president said that we always turns to India as the first choice and China is our second choice.

Sri Lanka president also admitted that India rejected to build Hambanthota harbor saying that it is not viable but China agreed to help with the project.
