New Colour Video Clips Of Old Ceylon In 1955 (Including Dalada Perahara)
You will be amazed to see the quality of this videos and You will surely enjoy watching this collection of video clips depicting old Sri Lanka (Old Ceylon). Penn Museum attached to the The University of Pennsylvania Department of Archaeology and Anthropology has released this  historic video clips to Internet. Even though the videos do not have audio tracks you may be able to identify most of the places and activities. Here is the video of Sri Dalada Perahara in 1955. Possibly this may be the oldest available video of Sri Dalada Perahara. Filmed On Days - July 17 - 23 During these days our friend has been in Colombo, Negombo and Chilaw area. Filmed on Days - July 23rd to 25th This reel shows Kandy area, Peradeniya Botanical Garden and Road to Rathnapura. Filmed on Days - July 26-29 The video shows Anuradhpura, Mihinthale and Polonnaruwa area. Filmed on Days - July 29- August 02 In Nuwaraeliya and Kandy August 03 - August 04 He was in Kandy and The first video at the beginning of the article with Dalada Perehara must have been filmed on these days. July 09 - July 17 (Start of the trip in Ceylon) This video both contain views from both Java and Sri Lanka. So it is clear that this traveler went to Java before coming to Sri Lanka. August 15 - 16 The video captured during these days mainly contains footage from India and it indicates that our traveler has left to India after being in Sri Lanka for about two weeks.
