A song sung by Amarasiri Pieris “ Iki gasa handana atheethayaka” is one of the most popular songs recently. The particular song is one of the songs in Jayantha Chandrasiri’s latest film to be released in EAP circuit cinemas “Samanala Sandhawaniya” (Butterfly Simphony).
Talking about his latest film, Jayantha said ‘This is a simple film based on love, yet you will not find it that simple by meaning. It’s just like “love”, simple but deep. Only sensitive people could feel the real love, It’s just like we couldn’t hear the butterfly fly, to hear it you should get your ears super sensitive, and then you will be able to hear the tiniest things an average human couldn’t hear. This film is based on such super sensitive humans.’
Jayantha Chandrasiri is back to business after eight long years after his fim “Garilla Marketing” which released on 2005. ‘Samanala Sandhawaniya’ is his third film. Besides the prominent characters used to appear in Jayantha’s films four newcomers (new to Jayantha’s crew) will feature in this film, namely; Uddika Premarathne, Pubudu Chathuranghe, Sooryaloka Dayaruwan and Chathurika Pieris. The others inclue Yashodha, Damitha, Wison Gunaratne, Buddhadasa Vithanarachchi, Roger Seneviratna and Rebbeca Nirmali. Produced by Ruwan Jayansinghe and Palitha Gunawardhana, the script of ‘Samanala Sandhawaniya’ is scripted by Jayantha and camera by Ruwan Costa, music Darshana Ruwan Disanayaka, editor Ravindra Guruge and make up by Vasantha Vittachchi.
‘Uddika and Pubudu are two of the most active and talented actors I have recently found, and for the character of Vadeesha I was searching for an actor who could sing and luckily Uddika fulfilled my needs.’ Said Jayantha.
The film is based on a talented young music student ‘Vadeesha Devaminda’ who is haunted by the guilt of not delivering a love letter which he came across accidently to the person it was wrote to or to the person it was written by ‘Punya’. Punya is a woman, more mature than him in both age and life and after failing the every effort he made to deliver the letter it affected his family life. Sympathy mixed with emotions of love he feels towards this women, leads to him creating a song that captures the hearts of people which eventually makes him a prominent musician in the country after 20 years. Finally he regains his life by returning the letter to Punya after 20 years by chance.
