Nanda Malani “ Gee Yathra” at BMICH

Award-winning songstress Visharada Nanda Malini will be back again with a much-looked-forward-to unique solo musical concert ‘Gee Yathra’ on Saturday, November 2 at the refurbished BMICH at 7 pm. This will be the first musical programme to be held at the refurbished BMICH which was closed for four years.

“OSCA is working towards the welfare of our own music fraternity and it spends more than Rs.1.7 Million annually on such welfare programmes. The founder Mr. Dharmadasa is working hard since its inception in eleven years ago to uplift the lives of needy artistes. So I voluntarily agree to perform without any monitory gain for this worthy cause.” Said Nanda Malani

“This show will not only provide an opportunity for Sri Lankan music lovers to enjoy high quality music, but also to contribute towards the welfare of their favourite artistes who have entertained them for decades.”

The ‘Gee Yathra’ musical extravaganza is organized to raise funds for the Outstanding Song Creators Association (OSCA) which represents almost all artistes in the music stream including lyricists, singers, music directors and musicians. Founded by Jayantha Dharmadasa , OSCA has membership of more than 225 and is the largest organization works towards benefits of wider selection of music artistes. The funds raised will be used to implement Health and Life Insurance schemes and to host of other welfare needs of the artistes.

Here’s a good news if you wish to learn music from this songstress. ‘Nanda Malani Music Academy’ is now enrolling students for the year 2014. Nanda Malani Has been conducting music lessons for more than 28 years immensely serving the music industry. Visharda Deepika Priyadharshani, Asanka Priyamantha are few of her past students of this academy.

Those in the 8 to 12 and 12 to 15 age group can enroll for classes which will include voice training, singing and other basic exercises. Special classes are being conducted for the youth, targeting for the Bathkande music exams.
