Sunil Edirisinghe, the great veteran vocalist is ready to unveil his next “Sadakada Pahana” musical miscellany as an unprecedented magnificent evening on 28th December at BMICH from 7.00 pm onwards.
Patikirige Sunil Jayapreethi Edirisinghe or Sunil Edirisinghe, is a laureate musician who has triumphed as well as proudly represents the classical musical tradition in Sri Lanaka. This critically acclaimed musician won the Presidential Award for Play back singing in 1983 for “Maya Miriguwa Pirunu Lo Thale” from “Adhishtanaya”.
Sadakada pahana Musical Concert is a mile stone in the life of this exceptional musician as the title represents itself. This captivating song “Sadakada Pahanaka Katayam Opala” is included in the early 70s film “Mathara Achchi” directed by Sathischandra Edirisinghe, elder brother of Sunil Edirisinghe. The importance of this song lies in the novelity that paved the path for four exceptional personalities named Sunil Edirisinghe, the singer, Wally Nanayakkara, the lyric writer, Victor Rathnayake, music director, and Sathischandra, the film director. All these four who could demand their authority at latter times, stepped in to the world of music with the courtesy of this extra-ordinary song.
