The Nut Job is an animated movie packed with adventure and comedy which is to be released on January 17th 2014 by Open Road Films. The movie is set in a fictional town called Oakton where a mischievous squirrel named Surly is banished from his park. Surly is compelled to find his own way of survival while getting adjusted to an urban environment. With Surly’s rat friend Buddy, they plan a nut store heist and unwillingly find themselves entwined in an inescapable adventure. Surly’s adventure will ultimately help the survival of the park community. Lucky for them Surly stumbles on the idea of breaking into a nut store which would benefit the entire park community with the approaching winter.
There will be a lot of funny moments in the movie and amazing adventurous situations which will keep you on the edge of your chair with impatience. The movie could be enjoyed by both young and the old for it’s humorous content. Although the entire movie is based upon a complicated and a funny adventure of Surly and his friends the underlying story is that the struggle they face is based on a struggle for survival.
Since animated 3D movies like Alvin and the Chipmunks and Ice Age with cartoonzied animal characters in them gained much popularity and fame during the past few years; “The Nut Job” will also capture the eyes of the audience instantly. There is huge demand among the kids these days to see movies with talking animals and cars in them along with fantasy movies. “The Nut Job” has both comical and fantasy elements in them which would provide the audience with new discoveries to a world full of adventure.
The film is directed by Peter Lepeniotis and written by Lorne Cameron. The movie has been rated for it’s mild action with a certain capacity of humor. The film is based on the 2005 short animated film Surly Squirrel by Lepeniotis. The 2014 movie will be a Canadian-South Korean computer animated 3D and also the movie has been listed as the most expensive film made in South Korea.
On November 15th 2013 it was announced that the production of the movie will be commenced with the screenplay done by Lepeniotis. Will Arnett who is well known for his comedic roles as Chris Brinkley in the NBC TV series “Up All Night” is the voice of Surly. Katherine Heigl who is best known for her role as Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens on ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2010, for which she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007 voices Andie.
On December 19, 2013, it was announced South Korean entertainer, PSY, will make a cameo appearance of himself during the film’s ending credits, which will also feature his hit song “Gangnam Style.” The first trailer was released on 27th of September 2013 and many other trailers of the movie followed afterwards.
“The Nut Job” would be the perfect movie to watch on the first month of a brand new year. Waiting for one awesome animated movie like this one will be worth it. You could allocate your free time to watch this movie in 3D theater with your kids and family and laugh a little while enjoying the adventures to the fullest.
