This week our knowledge quiz is about a popular song. Sansum Susuman Paweela is a song from K.W.Perera’s “Nadayo – (නෑදෑයෝ )” film. This beautiful song is sung by T.M.Jayarathna and music is by Premasiri Kemadasa. Actors Vijaya Nandasiri, Tissa Wijesurendra and Sonia Disa appeared in the film song. Nadayo film is based on a book written by T B Ilangaratne – a renowned politician who was also an SLFP cabinet minister.

Sri Lanka’s football record in 1978 – Sri Lanka knowledge Quiz 01

Last week we brought our first image quiz. We have published the results of the image quiz here at the end of original post. Today we are moving on to Sri lanka knowledge quiz. Here we will ask a question without giving an image. Don’t get confused. You will find all the quizzes under the category of Sri Lanka Quiz.

Today’s quiz:

FIFA world cup in 1978 was held in Argentina. That was the 11th staging of the World cup. The 1978 World Cup was won by Argentina who beat the Netherlands 3–1 after extra time in the final. This win was the first World Cup title for Argentina, who became the fifth team (after Uruguay, Italy, England, and West Germany), to be both hosts and world champions.

England failed to qualify for the second World Cup in succession, losing out to Italy. European champions Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and the Soviet Union also failed to make it through the qualifying tournament. Newcomers to the finals were Iran and Tunisia; Austria qualified for the first time since 1958, while France, Spain and Hungary were back for the first time since 1966.

In this world cup Sri Lanka also entered in to record book of FIFA world cup history. Sri Lanka team was the first team to withdraw from the World cup preliminary rounds.
